1. How do I determine bucket spacing for CC-HD buckets?
While historically minimum spacing has been nominal projection plus 2”, many CC-style buckets, however, are being used at projection plus 1” or even closer. For engineering purposes, Tapco recommends using nominal plus projection plus 2”.
2. How do I determine bucket spacing for low-profile buckets?
The standard spacing is nominal projection minus 1”. Closer centers can be used; contact Tapco for recommendations.
3. How do I determine quantity of buckets for a given belt length?
After determining the vertical centers in inches, find the total length of the belt in inches. Then divide the length of the belt by the vertical centers to determine the number of buckets needed. Also, be sure to add the amount of belting needed to wrap around the pulleys.
4. Do I need belting to extend past the side of the bucket when it is mounted?
We suggest the belt extend 1” to 2” outside the bucket’s edges in order to maximize the bucket’s life. In case of multiple-row elevators, we recommend a minimum of ½” between buckets.
5. How do I properly measure the dimensions of a bucket?
- Length/Width: Measure across the back of the bucket
- Projection: Measure from the bolt line in the back of the bucket to the front lip.
- Depth: On the back of the bucket, measure from the top to the bottom.
- Front Angle: Measure from the horizontal up to the front of the bucket.
6. How do I determine the proper bolt length for bucket installation?
Add together the thickness of the belt, back of the bucket, washers required, and double the nut thickness. If using a fanged bolt, add the dimensions for the fangs, then round to the nearest ¼” standard bolt length.
